BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

HIS MAJESTY THE SULTAN AND YANG DI-PERTUAN’S 71ST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Join in the festivities as the citizens of Brunei Darussalam celebrate their beloved monarch’s 71st birthday. The celebration will include a parade held in his honour and a fly past by a fleet of planes and helicopters. Over the next several days, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, will travel to meet and greet his subjects in all of Brunei’s four districts.

Thanksgiving prayers will be held on 14 July at all mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide. The ceremonial parade will be held at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, Bandar Seri Begawan on 15 July. The meet-and-greet ceremonies with the rakyat will begin in the Tutong District on 18 July, followed by Temburong District on 20 July; Belait District on 22 July and in the Brunei-Muara District on 23 July.

One of Japan’s most influential artists, Katsushika Hokusai will have his works exhibited at Melbourne’s NGV International in collaboration with Japan Ukiyo-e Museum. Entitled Hokusai, the exhibition will span the artist’s entire career, featuring more than 150 works from woodblock prints, rare paintings on silk to hand-printed manga (illustrated books).
