His Majesty’s loyal subjects and the hope of Brunei’s Generation Tomorrow.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, following in the leadership legacy of his late father, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, has made the welfare of Brunei’s people the cornerstone of his policies for national development, regional peace and global co-existence. As His Majesty steers the nation into the 21st century, youth engagement, education and opportunity has become top priority, mirroring His Majesty’s special concern for the future of Brunei’s youth. His Majesty has increasingly paired economic reforms with innovative programmes for youth development nationwide. Education remains high in His Majesty’s agenda in energising and preparing the nation’s youth for global competitiveness and leadership.

As stewards of the nation’s future, His Majesty encourages every youth to understand the country’s vision and narrative to further help define their identities that will illuminate the future. His Majesty continues to remind youths to safeguard Brunei’s extraordinary and unique cultural legacy, embedded in its national philosophy of Malay Islamic Monarchy (Melayu Islam Beraja), officially proclaimed on the day Brunei regained its sovereignty on 1 January 1984, which has made Brunei an exceptional nation. As His Majesty takes his nation forward, his wish is to hand over an even stronger and more successful country to the next generation and pray for today’s youth to be tomorrow’s greater potential, God willing.

His Majesty is happiest when he has the opportunity to meet with Brunei’s young generation, like the young performers in the Brunei-Muara District during the occasion of His Majesty’s 70th birthday at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien.

Always in touch with his subjects, His Majesty congratulates young students on their performance during the Brunei-Muara District meet-and-greet session that reflected the spirit of patriotism, understanding, harmony and unity.

Residents of Temburong District gathered at the Bangar Community Hall to eagerly welcome His Majesty on the occasion of the monarch’s 70th birthday celebrations. Celebrating the theme “Raja Berdaulat, Laila Perkasa”, performances showcased the culture, heritage and traditions of the people of the Malay, Murut, Chinese and Iban.

Brunei observed His Majesty’s birthday celebrations last year with a youthful spirit that mirrored the strong bonds between His Majesty and the people of Brunei.
