Elegant new styling on the exterior, a wealth of luxury features in the interior – the new Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4L has arrived.

The 2016 Outlander 2.4L is the first Mitsubishi production vehicle to showcase the brand’s new design language. The new Outlander 2.4L is not just a cosmetic “refreshing” change however, but features an unprecedented number of important engineering and design improvements to enhance overall driving experience.

“With an eye-catching new design aesthetic inside and out, the Outlander 2.4L literally looks, drives and feels like an entirely new vehicle, making it an even more compelling value than before,” said MMNA Executive Vice President, Don Swearingen, during its debut at the New York Motorshow in 2015.

The Outlander 2.4L is equipped standard with an intelligent 4-wheel drive system and premium silent package to provide ride cabin quietness. This is achieved through clever use of crevasses and sound damping materials at strategic locations. A new front design concept, the “Dynamic Shield” – inherited from the bumper side protection seen on generations of the Pajero, provides unique protection for both the people and car.

Numerous other design and engineering improvements (there are 98 improvements to be exact) have been made to the chassis of the 2016 Outlander 2.4L, including increased body and suspension structural rigidity, redesigned suspension and Electric Power Steering, noise-isolating windshield and rear door glass, more sound insulation throughout the vehicle, new dynamic front suspension and rear differential dampers, improved weather stripping and engine compartment trim. Additionally, the new generation continuously-variable transmission offers improved acceleration, performance, shift feel and torque delivery.

The exterior design features of the 2016 Outlander 2.4L include a redesigned front fascia, front fenders, halogen headlights, LED position lights, lower door sections, 18-inch alloy wheels, rear fascia and LED taillights; and power-folding side mirrors and LED Daytime Running Lights. The reconfigured interior includes a redesigned steering wheel, seating surfaces, accent trim, rear folding seat, headliner, display audio system (all models) and auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Mitsubishi’s advanced safety systems including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) are now available. What is more interesting is the integration of the Brake Over Ride System (BORS); it is a clever active safety system that in times of panic, when the driver accidentally depressed both accelerator and brake pedals, the accelerator will be cancelled and the brake system will take over.

Every 2016 Outlander 2.4L also includes seven (7) Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) air bag: front air bags with passenger weight and driver’s seat position sensors, front seat-mounted side-impact air bags, and curtain side air bags with roll-over sensors; Brake Override System (BORS); 4-wheel ABS, remote anti-theft alarm system; engine immobiliser and ISOFIX Child seat anchors.
